Hello,
You will find here teardowns mainly.
More than a thousand of them.
Not boring consumer equipment.
instead, VERY UNUSUAL STUFF, with a special focus on:
Avionics and aircraft instruments
Soviet electronics
Military radios
And other stuff from my "little" collection.
And various other stuff, as a big thermal camera, a blood analyzer or even missile parts !
Check my intro video for a quick teaser, and then start digging in my videos.
If you have any time left, check my playlists also !
Cheers !

Did they use a processor out of a washing machine or what.
The R series were basically rebranded Minoltas. The R3 had a bad reputation for faulty electronics. They have little value. Not great cameras.
Current Leica cameras use Sony sensors and Panasonic technology. So, is Leica not worth it?
@@TastyPrism You need to understand the situation back then. Electronic , autoexposure cameras were taking over the camera market. Leica made nothing but mechanical cameras. Their only SLR was mechanical. They desperately needed an electronic, auto exposure SLR and had no tooling or expertise for autoexposure electronic cameras. Minolta was making what they needed, so they teamed up with Minolta for the R3 and later SLR's. They slightly altered the look of Minolta cameras and stuck their logo on them. But Minolta was no Leica, and their mass produced cameras had problems with the electronics that thus affected the Leica badged versions. It was the early days of electronic, autoexposure cameras and reliability was often an issue. The Leica CL was also a rebranded Minolta.
I had two R3.. The first one I striped the advance gear , the second an R3 MOT safari, it lasted 20 years , shot 100's of rolls.. It even went out to Burning Man 3 or 4 times.. Ended up selling it in 2010 along with all my film camaras..
But the truth is that there was a collaboration between Minolta and Leica. The XE and the R3 use common parts in some aspects. Most notably the CLS (Copal Leitz Shutter), which was developed by Leica and manufactured by Copal. The film advance and electronics were also similar. The main difference, and this is crucial, lies in the design of the mirror mechanism. The XE had a fixed mirror, the R3 a transparent mirror. The exposure metering system of the two cameras is completely different. The XE only offers integral metering, the R3 integral and spot metering. The metering cells of the XE are located in the upper part of the prism, those of the R3 under the transparent mirror. The mirror drive mechanism of the XE is simply a traditional hinge mechanism, while the R3 uses the scotch-yoke mechanism of the earlier Leicaflex SL cameras. Not to mention that the alloys used in the R3 are different from those used in the XE. I would not call this a rebranded camera.
It looks like there is a shaft collar on the cam shaft.
It's the glass that cost money..
It all costs money. Leicas vary hugely in price. Rangefinders from 500 to 15,000. Glass prices also vary hugely. It also depends how much glass you actually want or need.
Out of sync cam could be 'take off flap'
At 10:09, you can see a hole just on the inside wall on the right side. Perhaps there is a miniature Allen screw in that hole?
Actually, I have to ask, what do you search up to find stuff like this

I worked in the Air Force as an FCO for 2 years. I would like to receive the information in PDF format.
Can i ask you something? I've got one of these in really good condition, what i have to do for make it work?
is it possible to connect an external microphone for this camera?`

@@msylvain59 Awesome! Thank you so much! There is only one page. Does this mean only 9 pins are used?
@@user-mp9rd4hg8b ahh you found this great video and get help - also read my comment above , i found the fitting connector i count ten wires for full S1 switch function , pin 17 - 19 is the heating directly or over temperature bimetall switch on pin 19
@@NTTom2 Yes, I did. This reminds me of the Internet of the 90s, where people shared information. I'm still not sure I understand the schematic but I will try and figure it out. I did find a compatible connector for it. Thanks again.

Do you still have the unit? I have bought high voltage transformer to use those tubes ,but I think they are expired , is there any chance you still have those tubes?
As i espected obviously not even any BGA components shadow, BGA is probably the most responsible of modern technology death!
Gummi drüber und rein in die Mutti 😅😂
In deine Mutti, ok😂
I can't see a gimbal mount. Is the seeker straped-down to the rest of body? If so I can just imagine how limited those first generation seekers were. They must have had a few degrees FOV and no fancy guidance laws. There is no way one can implement proportional navigation without a guimbal mounted seeker.
Is it made from russian components?
Some type of sighting device, tank?
or stellar navigation device, it is called a "periscopic sextant" model A28450-00-001, some ebay sellers sell it at 1500 US$, got mine for a lot less 😇
@@msylvain59 Yes, for aircraft. Probably a Boeing 747.

My first calculator was the TI-30 (the late 70's). The auto power off function would have been handy - If you forgot to turn it off, next time it was out of juice (a 9 volt battery).
That must be some kind of early LSI chip! Really neat looking display! Hope you get it working, good luck!
Display is filled with Neon (orange glow), not xenon (blue glow)
I still have my Texas Instruments Datamath Calculator and it still works. I don't keep batteries installed.
I have a few Datamath, they still work too, while the build quality was not terribly impressive on those imo.
w77102 What is it and what does it do?
My guess is a transformer to make the high voltage for the display. The other Sanyo black part is strange too, maybe a thick film ceramic resistor or some hybrid module.
@@msylvain59 Thank you for your kind reply
I recently purchased a pocket panaplex calculator but unfortunately the batteries leaked and ruined the board but I'm hoping the display is still salvageable. Nice video as always 👍🏻
I have one of these calculators. It is in good condition and still works !😊😊😊
That edge connector may be to connect all the keyboard tracks together for gold electroplating.
